According to the former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger if it was upon him, he would have placed the question of Afghanistan in front of all the regional players as to what constructive help they could offer to United States to find a sustainable solution. He says that Obama administration should have set its goals realistically before announcing 2014 withdrawal timeline from Afghanistan. However, US will leave Afghanistan whether it wins or loses but the most affected will be those countries which share their borders with Afghanistan. It is in their own interest to help US to make its troops withdrawal constructive. The former senior advisor to Richard Holbrook, Vali Nasar says that Pakistan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan may already be chalking out their strategy after 2014 to safeguard their interests in Afghanistan . Rajiv Chandrasekaran. the National Editor of The Washington Post, says that Afghanistan's end game is still to be written. Final solution depends on the actions of regional actors and "upon the degree to which the United States is able to leverage the tools it still has to achieve an outcome that leads to a more stable Afghanistan over the long term", says Chandrasekaran. According to him the trust between regional players will be a significant impediment to go forward.
