In March, a massive tsunami off the coast of Japan killed thousands of people and destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes.
There were also widespread riots in Britain with a royal wedding that distracted people and caused a massive traffic jam in the central London.
Moreover, crisis in the Euro zone dragged on and Greece was on the point of economic meltdown.
The 2011 list of casualties also included Gaddafi, the Apple founder, Steve Jobs, and of course Osama bin Laden.
