The super storm has torn through the state of Queensland, so far claiming four lives, including a three year-old child and an elderly gentleman who was swept away before emergency services could reach him. Thousands of locals have been evacuated throughout the state, their homes and businesses falling victim to flash floods, torrential rain and power cuts. Bunderberg, a town destroyed merely over a year ago during the infamous floods of 2010, has been evacuated. Hospital patients have been airlifted to safety, and evacuation centres in the area have been emptied. Brisbane, the states capital, fought against strong cyclonic winds and flash floods that devastated 5000 homes and local businesses.
