"Every nation has its mindset and it is shaped by their history," says Russian studies Professor Stephen Cohen of NYU. Americans are still brought up being told that the USA is the best country in the world, especially since the end of the Cold War. Cohen says, however, that President Obama needs to break the post-war myth that the US can tell Russia what to do unless, of course, he wants another Cold War. The US continues to take and take from Russia yet offers nothing in return. If the two countries want a peaceful future, says Cohen, they have a lot to agree on.
