Nadeem Yaqub, Washington, D.C.: Despite turbulences Pakistan and the US have managed to maintain relations during the last one decade. But last year saw the relationship plunge to its lowest level due to several incidents including the operation to kill Al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan. The attack and killing of 25 Pakistani soldiers at a post on Pak-Afghan border in November last resulted in Pakistan closing the NATO supply lines through Pakistan. Experts in Washington say both the countries are now assessing this relationship.
Lisa Curtis of the Heritage Foundation says both the countries are lowering their expectations. Shuja Nawaz of the Atlantic Council believes the relations can improve if the responsible party accepts the responsibility .
